WhiteWave Foods awarded Green Power Leadership Award
For the fifth time, WhiteWave Foods Company (WWFC) has been named a 2008 Green Power Leadership Award winner by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The annual awards recognize the country’s leading green power purchasers for their commitment to helping advance the development and use of renewable energy. “Investing in renewable energy is critically important to our environment, our health and our quality of life — today and in the future,” said Joe Scalzo, President and CEO of WWFC. “Our focus upon and investment in clean wind energy is an example of how we at WhiteWave Foods are committed to sustainable solutions for the environment and the economy.” WWFC has a long history of integrating sustainability into business practices. The company began purchasing renewable energy credits to offset the electricity used to produce Silk(R) Soymilk products in 2003, and has since expanded that initiative to include the company’s Horizon Organic(R), International Delight(R) and Land O’Lakes(TM) brands, as well as all of the electricity used at its corporate headquarters. To date, the company’s total wind energy purchases are the equivalent of eliminating more than 450 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions annually or taking 40,200 cars off the road for one year. Additionally, in 2006, the company established an award-winning recycling and composting program at its headquarters, an initiative that has dramatically reduced the company’s waste and environmental impact. The environmental impact of the recycling and composting program is the equivalent of saving more than 328,000 gallons of water and planting nearly 800 trees.

TOMRA of North America selects FastLane Communications as agency of record
TOMRA of North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of TOMRA Systems ASA (TOMRA) and leading global provider of advanced recycling solutions, recently announced its selection of FastLane Communications, LLC as its integrated marketing and public relations agency of record in North America. TOMRA created the world’s first automated bottle return machine in 1972. Since then, the company has installed more than 60,000 recycling systems worldwide. Today, TOMRA collects more than 30 billion used beverage containers through its sophisticated recycling machines, which is equivalent to approximately three percent of the world’s consumption. “TOMRA is a known leader within the recycling industry, but nowhere near where we want to be on a broader scale, and especially in select target industries,” said Greg Knoll, president and CEO, TOMRA North America. “As a result, we’re stepping up our marketing and public relations efforts to continue to raise our visibility, expand our presence and better serve our customers.” “TOMRA represents the best in global ’smart green’ efforts. They were introducing recycling solutions and raising global environmental concerns long before it was fashionable,” said Chris Faust, founder & CEO, FastLane. “We’re proud and honored to be working with an industry leader that continues to ‘give back’ and benefit future generations to come.”
