Happy Birthday, Barbie!

The eternally-young icon turns 50 on March 9, 2009 and in true Barbie-style, Mattel has planned numerous celebrations, events and products to mark the special occasion. While Barbie has spent the past 50 years dabbling in various careers such as teacher, doctor and astronaut and even held her very first fashion show during this year’s New York’s Fashion Week, as eco-friendly marketers we were most interested in last year’s launch of Barbie BCause, a collection of eco-friendly accessories for girls. As with many roads to sustainability, Barbie BCause is just the start of Mattel’s efforts to add a little green to the queen of dolls and as Mattel looks at new ways to enhance their eco-friendly offerings, we want to hear your thoughts on how the Barbie brand can build upon its image with socially-conscious consumers. designed and handmade by Sunglasses by
Mercura NYC and chosen for the Barbie Runway 50th anniversary show.
